Dismissal instruction changes ~ If there is a change to your child(ren) dismissal instructions (i.e, early leave, change from bus to parent pick up, attend day care, etc.), please send in a hand written note via the Note to Kernsville School notepad with your child(ren) to give to their teacher. Do not use the Parkland App (Apptegy) or any other electronic communication tool to communicate dismissal changes. Classroom teachers have very limited access to these electronic tools during the school day and in the event of a staff absence the message will not be seen at all. In the rare instance of a midday change, please call the school office and speak to a staff member.

Grades 3-5 Program Information
The Knight School's Elementary Chess Program
Are you looking for an after-school chess program that offers an amazing combination of chess lessons, laughter, and fun chess tournaments for kids? Welcome to The Knight School! The Knight School Chess Team is your school's official chess team and chess party. The Knight School's approach has had amazing success—winning multiple state championships—because our unique and unprecedented educational philosophy, “the chess party,” is the perfect way to transform a complete beginner into a devastating chess machine. In this kid-centered classroom environment, we teach our kids every cool trick, strategy, opening, and tactic in chessdom, and our kids soon learn to love and master chess and to masterfully control their classrooms, sports fields, and home lives as well! Class meets weekly, and children progress through our curriculum, earning our colorful and funny TactixBelts along the way. We will run a 10-week fall program this year for grades K-5. Our Kernsville class meets Fridays, right after school in the library from October 2nd - December 18th. Enroll directly at: https://tinyurl.com/2jwdux6x. If you prefer other class times, please visit The Knight School's website for more class offerings.
